Beverley helps Make Poverty History
A simple white band is now making more than a fashion statement
– it's hopefully going to make global poverty a thing of
the past.
Sir Bob Geldof, musician, activist and Band Aid creator, is helping
head up Make Poverty History, a campaign backed by over 300 charities
and other organisations which aims to make positive changes to
trade justice, debt and aid to poverty-stricken regions.
A star-studded line-up of celebs showed off their white bands
bearing the campaign slogan as Sir Bob unveiled a new ad for the
drive. Rachel Stevens, Beverley Knight, Davina McCall and Robin
Gibb were among the big names helping promote the cause at a London
photocall.
The new Make Poverty History ad, starring Sir Bob, along with
stars such as Bono, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Emma
Thompson, Liam Neeson, Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue and Hugh Grant,
is being launched in the UK.
Information on how to buy one of the £1 wristbands can
be found on the Make Poverty History website at www.makepovertyhistory.org.
Thanks SJ and Mike

Gospel Nights Finale
The final installment of Beverley's radio show, Gospel Nights,
hits the airwaves tomorrow - and according to the Radio Times,
we finally get to hear Beverley belt out a track herself when
she performs a classic Sam Cooke hit.
She recorded a stunning version of "Change Is Gonna Come"
for the Jools Holland "Small World, Big Band" album
a couple of years ago - so it's pretty likely that it will be
the track she'll be performing.
Thanks to Paz for the info
Beverley's future at Parlophone
According to SJ Robertson,
it looks fairly likely that Beverley will be leaving her label,
Parlophone records in the near future (probably after the tour).
"Keep This Fire Burning" was planned to be the final
big push for Beverley, and the label are said to be disappointed
by it's chart position.
This news also means that the planned live DVD, and possibly
the live album that Beverley spoke about, are unlikely to be released.
However - nothing has been 100% confirmed - so please check back
for any further news.
Chart Update
Affirmation re-entered the album chart this week (from being
outside of the top 200) at number 54 and has climbed again this
week to 49.
The television adverts that were first shown on the week of the
albums release are beginning to be shown again - so hopefully
the album will continue to climb in the next few weeks.
Keep This Fire Burning has slipped ten places to number 26 in
it's second week of release.
Thanks topopMAC1.
Jukebox Update
I've updated the site's jukebox, which now includes the Stargate
Mix of Keep This Fire Burning, the hot new track "Dancing
2005", which features Beverley alongside other UK urban divas
Estelle, Terri Walker, Ms Dynamite, Shystie, Dion and H-Boogie,
the Keep This Fire Burning b-sides "Soon Come" and "I
Was Meant For You", Beverley's beautiful live performance
of the Beatle's Classic "Let It Be" and "Till I
See Ya" - one of the standout tracks from the Affirmation
album. Listen here.
If you'd like to request a track to add to the jukebox, click
here and post a message on the tagboard.
Unreleased track - "Too Hot"
SJ Robertson has managed to get hold of a superb track from the
Affirmation sessions called "Too Hot". The decision
was made to leave the song off the album because the label felt
it was "too urban" - but some fans think that it could
be the huge hit Beverley is looking for if, it were released.
to listen to a clip!
The song was written by Beverley, recorded in one take and produced
by DJ Munro, who also produced Fatal Factor and Salvador for Affirmation.
Dancing 2005
Thanks to Mike for this update on Beverley's collaboration with
Estelle:
"Estelle was on Spoony's Radio 1 show on Saturday and I
decided to text in asking if Dancing was gonna be released and
said that it would make a great summer party track and was creating
a buzz on the internet. Spoony read it out and Estelle said that
they are hoping to release it but are still waiting for clearance
to come back on the samples used but fingers crossed and she told
everyone to keep playing it and for Radio 1 to keep playing it
so the record company see that if it is released it'll make them
some money!!"
Listen to the track by clicking onto the jukebox.
